Sábbato ad Nonam

Ante quam inchoetur Officium, laudabiliter dicitur, sub singulari semper numero, sequens Oratio; pro qua Summus Pontifex Pius Pp. XI sub die 17 Novembris 1933 Indulgentiam trium annorum concessit.

Oratio

R. Amen.

Dómine, in unióne illíus divínæ intentiónis, qua ipse in terris laudes Deo persolvísti, hanc tibi Horam persólvo.

PATER noster, qui es in cælis, sanctificétur nomen tuum. Advéniat regnum tuum. Fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie. Et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris. Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.

AVE, María, grátia plena; Dóminus tecum: benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui Jesus. Sancta María, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.

V. Deus, in adjutórium meum inténde.

R. Dómine, ad adjuvándum me festína.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculórum. Amen. Allelúja, vel Laus tibi, Dómine, Rex ætérnæ glóriæ.

Hymnus

RERUM, Deus, tenax vigor,

Immótus in te pérmanens,

Lucis diúrnæ témpora

Succéssibus detérminans:

Largíre lumen véspere,

Quo vita nusquam décidat,

Sed præmium mortis sacræ

Perénnis instet glória.

Præsta, Pater piíssime,

Patríque compar Unice,

Cum Spíritu Paráclito

Regnans per omne sæculum.

Amen.

Ant. Ne tacúeris, Deus.

Psalmus 108, i

Locúti sunt advérsum me lingua dolósa, et sermónibus ódii circumdedérunt me: et expugnavérunt me gratis.

Constítue super eum peccatórem: et diábolus stet a dextris ejus.

Fiant nati ejus in intéritum: in generatióne una deleátur nomen ejus.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto.

Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculórum. Amen.

Psalmus 108, ii

Amen.

Psalmus 108, iii

Adjuva me, Dómine, Deus meus: salvum me fac secúndum misericórdiam tuam.

Confitébor Dómino nimis in ore meo: et in médio multórum laudábo eum.

Quia ástitit a dextris páuperis, ut salvam fáceret a persequéntibus ánimam meam.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto.

Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculórum. Amen.

Ant. Ne tacúeris, Deus, quia sermónibus ódii circumdedérunt me.

Saturday None

Before the Office is begun, it is commendable to say the following Prayer, the singular number being used throughout; for which Pope Pius XI granted an indulgence of 3 years (S. Ap., November 17, 1933).

Prayer

OPEN my mouth, O Lord, to bless thy holy name: cleanse also my heart from all vain, evil and distracting thoughts; enlighten my understanding, inflame my will, that I may worthily recite this Office with attention and devotion, and deserve to be heard in the presence of thy divine Majesty. Through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

O Lord, in union with that divine intention with which thou didst praise God on earth, I offer to thee this Hour.

OUR Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL, Mary, full of grace; The Lord is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, JESUS. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V. O God, come to my assistance.

R. O Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Alleluia, or Praise be to Thee, O Lord, King of eternal glory.

Hymn

O STRENGTH and stay upholding all creation,

Who ever dost thyself unmoved abide,

And day by day the light in due gradation

From hour to hour through all its changes guide;

Grant to life’s day a calm unclouded ending,

An eve untouched by shadows of decay,

The brightness of a holy deathbed blending

With dawning glories of the eternal day.

Hear us, O Father, gracious and forgiving,

And thou, O Christ, the coeternal Word,

Who, with the Holy Ghost, by all things living

Now and to endless ages art adored.

Amen.

Ant. Be not silent, O God.

Psalm 108, i

O GOD, be not thou silent in my praise: for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful man is opened against me.

They have spoken against me with deceitful tongues; and they have compassed me about with words of hatred; and have fought against me without cause.

Instead of making me a return of love, they detracted me: but I gave myself to prayer.

And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love.

Set thou the sinner over him: and may the devil stand at his right hand.

When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin.

May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take.

May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

Let his children be carried about vagabonds, and beg; and let them be cast out of their dwellings.

May the usurer search all his substance: and let strangers plunder his labours.

May there be none to help him: nor none to pity his fatherless offspring.

May his posterity be cut off; in one generation may his name be blotted out.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalm 108, ii

MAY the iniquity of his fathers be remembered in the sight of the Lord: and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

May they be before the Lord continually, and let the memory of them perish from the earth: because he remembered not to shew mercy,

But persecuted the poor man and the beggar; and the broken in heart, to put him to death.

And he loved cursing, and it shall come unto him: and he would not have blessing, and it shall be far from him.

And he put on cursing, like a garment: and it went in like water into his entrails, and like oil in his bones.

May it be unto him like a garment which covereth him; and like a girdle with which he is girded continually.

This is the work of them who detract me before the Lord; and who speak evils against my soul.

But thou, O Lord, do with me for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is sweet.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalm 108, iii

DO thou deliver me, for I am poor and needy, and my heart is troubled within me.

I am taken away like the shadow when it declineth: and I am shaken off as locusts.

My knees are weakened through fasting: and my flesh is changed for oil.

And I am become a reproach to them: they saw me and they shaked their heads.

Help me, O Lord my God; save me according to thy mercy.

And let them know that this is thy hand: and that thou, O Lord, hast done it.

They will curse and thou wilt bless: let them that rise up against me be confounded: but thy servant shall rejoice.

Let them that detract me be clothed with shame: and let them be covered with their confusion as with a double cloak.

I will give great thanks to the Lord with my mouth: and in the midst of many I will praise him.

Because he hath stood at the right hand of the poor, to save my soul from persecutors.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Ant. Be not silent, O God, for they have compassed me about with words of hatred.

Little Chapter 1 Peter 1, 17-19

CONVERSE in fear during the time of your sojourning here. Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb unspotted.

R. Thanks be to God.

Short response: Redeem me, O Lord, * And have mercy on me. Redeem me, O Lord, and have mercy on me. V. For my foot hath stood in the right way. And have mercy on me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. Redeem me, O Lord, and have mercy on me.

V. From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord.

R. And from those of others spare thy servant.
